There is news today regarding a possible new role today for actress Emma Watson. The Hollywood Reporter has a new article online this morning saying the actress is due to appear in the movie “Napoleon and Betsy,” where Emma will play the part of “Betsy Balcombe, a young, impetuous noblewoman trapped on the isolated British Isle of St. Helena who falls in love with Napoleon, who is in exile on the island.” The trade paper says that Emma is taking over for actress Scarlett Johansson, who stepped aside as the part skewed younger,” however Johansson will still remain aboard the project as producer of the film.
The report notes that Emma Watson, who is currently filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and will return again as Hermione Granger for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films will film this new role in between Potter films in the fall of this year. There is no word on additional cast members for Napoleon and Betsy, but the paper indicates this film is to be written and directed by Benjamin Ross.
The Hermione Granger actress has updated her official site, wishing fans a Happy Valentine’s and addressing some false UK tabloid reports recently concerning her.
“This week is Fashion Week and although I have been filming during the day I managed to make it to the Burberry and Vanity Fair party at the National Portrait gallery. The photographs were so beautiful and I was chuffed with the book of all them that they gave me.
I met Christopher Bailey (the designer which was really exciting, I also met Johnny Borrell (who is modeling for Burberry at the moment) and went on to PPQ in the same cab. I’d never met him before so that was great as I’m a big Razorlight fan.
But goodness, I am really going to have to watch who I stand next to from now on! Maybe I should stand next to Orlando Bloom and then we can be said to be ‘dating’!”
Actress Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) has updated her website today with a diary entry on filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. She writes today was her first scene working with actor Jim Broadbent, who will be portraying Professor Horace Slughorn in the sixth Harry Potter film. Emma writes:
“It’s amazing to be working with him. It’s also great because I have been eating profiteroles ALL DAY at Slughorn’s dinner party!!!”
Emma goes on to note that she has been hard at work studying for her exams, and she also thanked all who supported her by watching her recent television film “Ballet Shoes.”Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released on November 21, 2008.
